What organization do you work for and what is your position?

  • Current Organization:  Office of Contracting and Procurement
  • Position:  Measurement & Planning Analyst

How long have you worked in the procurement field?

  • Year of Procurement Experience:  4years +

What do you plan to bring to the Chapter?

  • Value to the chapter:

Before joining the District Government, I had the opportunity of working in the banking sector starting from the position of a teller(cashier). Handling other people’s finances requires trustworthiness, accuracy and being detailed - oriented. The experience provided me the opportunity to regularly balance different accounts as well as reconcile complex transactions at the end of each month.

After a few years of successfully executing my duties, I was promoted to the position of a branch manager, a role reserved for people of great trust and integrity. Before resigning to attend graduate school, I responsible for managing a combined client portfolio of more than $100 million. At present, I am the Coordinator of the OCP Water Club, a role I have diligently executed for over two years.

I am applying for the position of Treasurer of the Metropolitan Washington Chapter of NIGP because I strongly believe that my background and experience uniquely prepared me for such responsibilities. As the treasurer, my vision transcends beyond simply maintaining a complete record of receipts and disbursements. Among other things, I aim to achieve the following:

  • enhance the proper management of the Chapter’s budget
  • prepare timely financial reports report on a regular and ad hoc basis
  • develop and enforce strong internal controls and financial management policies
  • identify and manage potential risks facing the Chapter’s finances
  • generate monthly report on all financial contributions from members and donors
  • partner with the Chapter leadership team to identify and follow up on potential fundraising opportunities

I look forward to working with all members of the MWC to take the organization to new heights.
